Why insure your yacht?

Yacht insurance: coverages
There are three types of cover for your yacht insurance, namely:
WA
With a WA boat insurance your boat is insured for damage you cause to other boats. Do you accidentally sail into another boat and does that boat get damaged? When you are insured WA, this damage will be compensated by the insurer. Otherwise, you will have to bear the costs yourself. Is your own boat also damaged? Unfortunately, this is not compensated with only a WA insurance. To compensate these damages, you need an all-risk boat insurance.
WA limited casco
The WA limited hull cover is also called a WA+ cover. With this coverage you also insure your boat for damage caused by fire, self combustion, explosion, joyriding, storm and hail. Moreover, you are also insured for damage to the contents of your boat.
All-risk/WA full casco
This is the most complete form of coverage. With an all-risk boat insurance you are, in addition to the above mentioned damages, also insured for damage to your own boat, even if you caused it yourself. Did you for instance crash into the quay while mooring the boat? Then an all-risk insurance covers the repair costs of your boat.
