All about the ZZP Insurance Package

The ZZP Insurance Package, also called the Chameleon Package, has been developed especially for ZZP'ers. With this package you insure your company against the most important risks within the industry you work in.

As a self-employed person, it is important for you to be able to do what you are good at without worrying about the risks involved in the work

What exactly does the insurance package include?

The ZZP insurance package consists of several insurances. By default, business liability and professional liability are co-insured. In addition, you can compile the package yourself. For example, you can include directors' liability insurance. This insurance protects the private assets of directors, supervisory directors and supervisors against the risk that they are held personally liable for pure pecuniary loss due to errors, omissions or negligence in the performance of their duties. In addition, you can also choose to include legal expenses insurance so that you are insured in the event of a conflict with, for example, a supplier or debtor.

Why take out a ZZP insurance package?

It is not compulsory for a self-employed person to take out insurance, but it can be sensible. When starting a business, you have to pay close attention to the costs. Taking out insurance is usually postponed. However, a good insurance is very important. As a self-employed person, you run daily risks that are sometimes incalculable. The unpleasant thing is that you only find out when it is already too late. If you take out a ZZP insurance package, you know for sure that you are properly insured. Moreover, your private insurances do not cover your activities as a ZZP'er.

What does a ZZP insurance package cover?

The ZZP insurance package is composed by yourself and consists of different insurances. Often the basis is liability insurance for the ZZP-er. For many insurances, various additions are also possible. For each insurance, there are a number of things that are and are not covered. This can be read in the policy conditions of the insurer.

What does a ZZP insurance package cost?

What a ZZP insurance package costs depends on the insurances you take out and on the amount insured. When calculating the premium, you enter your sector and profession. Next, you fill in a number of questions about your activities for each insurance. Then you choose the insured amount per claim. You select the insurances you want to take out and then you get an indication of the premium. You can choose whether you want to pay the insurance premium every month, quarter, six months or year. If you choose a yearly payment term, you will often receive a discount on the premium.

For whom is a ZZP insurance package intended?

The ZZP Insurance Package is intended for self-employed people in various branches and professions.

The professions are divided into three groups, namely:

  • Self-employed persons with advisory professions (e.g. accountant, (interior) architect and graphic designer)
  • Self-employed people working with tools (e.g. gardener, plumber and painter)
  • Self-employed workers in the field of external care (e.g. beautician, home hairdresser and make-up artist)

Mandatory insurance for self-employed workers

As a ZZP worker, you no longer benefit from protection by your employer. After all, you are your own boss and bear the responsibility yourself. That is why the government has determined that a number of insurances are mandatory if you want to work as a self-employed person.

The following insurances are compulsory:

  • Corporate Liability Insurance: this insurance covers the financial consequences if you are held liable for damage to third parties.
  • Self-employed Persons Disability Insurance: insurance that provides a monthly payment if you become disabled.
  • Fire insurance: insures fire damage to movable and immovable property.

So the above insurances are the ones you should definitely take out as a self-employed person. Would you like to know more or would you like tailor-made advice without obligation? Then get in touch with our insurance advisors, they will be happy to tell you more!
