Get car insurance for your Land Rover

Land Rover is known worldwide for its powerful and iconic models, such as the Range Rover and the Defender. With their rugged yet luxurious and refined designs, Land Rovers are in a class of their own. That calls for car insurance that’s up to the task. Because Land Rovers fall into a higher market segment, standard auto insurance often provides insufficient coverage for damage and theft. This is due, in part, to the car’s high value, the cost of parts, and the price of maintenance. With the right auto insurance for your Land Rover, you’re guaranteed appropriate protection, tailored to your usage, preferences, and specific model.

Additional Coverage for Land Rover Drivers

In addition to choosing the right coverage for your auto insurance, you can also compare and purchase various types of supplemental coverage.

Passenger accident insurance pays out fixed amounts in the event of the death or permanent disability of the driver and/or passengers.

Occupant damage

This insurance covers property damage sustained by the driver and passengers as a result of an accident.

Roadside Assistance Netherlands

Legal Aid

Insuring a Land Rover Range Rover

Are you the proud owner of a Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, or Range Rover Evoque? If so, you drive a car that’s known worldwide for its combination of unparalleled luxury, refinement, and outstanding off-road capabilities—a car that exudes both comfort and style and retains its value exceptionally well.

For a Range Rover, standard auto insurance is often not enough. There are several reasons for this:

  • Higher repair costs: A Range Rover is a luxury vehicle equipped with complex technology, which means that the costs for replacement parts, repairs, and maintenance are significantly higher
  • Prone to theft: Because of their high value, Land Rovers—especially the Range Rover—are popular among thieves. As a result, the risk of theft is higher

Many insurers use a claims management program when a claim is filed. For example, you may receive a discount on your deductible if you choose an affiliated repair shop. For a Land Rover, it is important that the repair shop uses original parts and materials and follows the manufacturer’s specifications.

Range Rover Insurance Options

When you purchase insurance for your Range Rover, you can add optional coverage such as replacement cost coverage, no-claims protection, passenger insurance, legal assistance, and a roadside assistance package. For hybrid and electric models, there is also a specific insurance plan that covers the charging cable.

  • Purchase Price Guarantee: This ensures you’ll be reimbursed for the new car value or purchase price in the event of a total loss. A great warranty for luxury and exclusive cars like the Range Rover.
  • No-Claim Protection: Prevents your premium from increasing after filing a claim, since your claim-free years are preserved.
  • Passenger Insurance: Covers bodily injury and property damage to the driver and passengers, regardless of who is at fault.
  • Legal Assistance: Provides legal help in the event of damage or disputes, ensuring that you have legal support.
  • Roadside Assistance: Provides assistance in the event of a car breakdown, including on-site repairs and replacement transportation.

The right insurance policy not only provides coverage in the event of damage, but also clarity and peace of mind in the event of theft or a total loss, for example. Choose car insurance that suits both your Range Rover and your driving style.

Insure Accessories and Upgrades as Well

You can customize a Land Rover entirely to your own taste with, for example, a running board, a tow hitch, roof rails, alloy wheels, and a carbon-fiber grille. As a standard feature, accessories worth up to approximately €1,000 are often covered by the insurance.

Have you installed more expensive parts or performed a complete upgrade? If so, you can easily include this additional amount in your coverage. A set of original or sport rims often exceeds the standard coverage amount. Be sure to report these parts to the insurer when you purchase the policy.

It's good to know that software-based tuning, such as engine management adjustments (ECU tuning), is usually excluded from coverage.

Claim-free years: how they affect your premium

The moreclaim-free years you’ve accumulated, the lower your Mercedes insurance premium will be. If you don’t file a claim during an insurance year, you’ll accumulate one claim-free year. If you file a claim, however, you’ll lose claim-free years, which will affect your premium.

Replacement Value or Purchase Price: How Does Compensation Work?

The replacement value policy means that, in the event of theft or a total loss, you will receive the replacement value for up to 3 years. This policy applies to new Land Rovers.

Do you own a used Land Rover? If so, you might want to consider the purchase price coverage option. Under this option, the insurer will temporarily reimburse the purchase price in the event of damage or theft. Neither of these options is included in the standard coverage; they are optional.

Additional Safety Requirements for Luxury Sports Cars

Land Rover's Range Rover lineup includes the company's luxury models, such as the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, and Range Rover Evoque. Insurers may impose additional security requirements for insuring these models.

Because of their high value and popularity among car thieves, insurers often require additional security measures for these types of models, such as a Class 5 vehicle tracking system or an SCM-approved alarm system.

Exactly which additional measures are required depends on your insurer, the type of car, your region, the coverage you’ve chosen, and the list price. Sometimes these requirements apply starting at a list price of €75,000, but for models that are prone to theft, the threshold may be lower.

Calculate your premium online and see right away what requirements the insurer has regarding alarm systems and other security measures.

Frequently Asked Questions About Land Rover Auto Insurance

How do I determine which coverage is right for my Land Rover?

Coverage depends on your car's age and how you use it. For new models, comprehensive insurance is often recommended, while for older Land Rovers, third-party liability plus limited collision coverage is sufficient. Do you use the car off-road? If so, additional coverage may be a good idea.

Is a Land Rover more expensive to insure than other cars?

Yes, in general, a Land Rover is more expensive to insure because of its higher weight, its replacement value, and its maintenance costs. The risk of theft for models like the Range Rover also factors into the premium.

Are there special insurance policies for the Land Rover Defender or Range Rover?

Yes, some insurers offer customized insurance policies for specific models, such as the Defender or Range Rover. These might include higher coverage for accessories, off-road use, or classic car policies for classic Defenders.

How do a Land Rover's weight and horsepower affect the premium?

Heavier and more powerful cars, such as the Land Rover, often result in higher premiums. This is because repairs are more expensive and the risk of serious damage in accidents is greater. Insurers take this into account in their risk assessments.

Can I get business insurance for my Land Rover?

Yes, a Land Rover can also be insured for business use. This is particularly relevant for business owners or self-employed individuals who use the vehicle for work. Keep in mind, however, that the premium and terms and conditions will differ from those of personal coverage.

What add-ons are recommended for Land Rover insurance?

Additional coverage, such as roadside assistance, replacement transportation, and accessories insurance, is often a good idea. For off-road use or expensive equipment (such as winches or roof racks), specific additional coverage may be important.

How does insurance cover work for Land Rover repairs?

After an accident, report the damage to your insurer. With many insurance policies, you can use affiliated repair shops that specialize in Land Rover vehicles. Some insurers also offer a pick-up and drop-off service or a warranty on repairs.

Is a Land Rover "youngtimer" eligible for special insurance?

Yes, for Land Rovers older than 15 years, you may be eligible for “youngtimer” insurance. This is tax-advantageous for business use and often offers a lower premium based on the current market value.
