What is temporary auto insurance?

Temporary auto insurance is valid for 1 or 14 days. Are you going to the RDW inspection? Then purchase the one-day policy. Are you exporting the vehicle? Then choose the 14-day coverage. During these 14 days, you can drive the car worry-free throughout Europe. You’ll only receive the Green Card with the 14-day option. Coverage automatically expires after 14 days.

How do you get temporary car insurance?

Taking out temporary auto insurance is quick and easy. Choose how many days you need the temporary coverage and enter your information. Coverage begins immediately after the premium is paid.

Are you applying for insurance that starts at a future date? If so, coverage begins at 12:00 a.m. on the first day for which coverage was requested. Your payment must be received before the insurance company issues a certificate of insurance and a green card.

What coverage do I have with temporary auto insurance?

The temporary insurance policy provides third-party liability coverage. It is not possible to purchase more comprehensive coverage. Therefore, the insurance does not cover damage to your own vehicle.

Can I apply the temporary insurance toward the permanent insurance?

Temporary insurance is a separate policy. It is not possible to offset the costs against or deduct them from the permanent auto insurance policy.

Is it possible to purchase temporary insurance based on the chassis number?

We need the vehicle's license plate number or temporary license plate number.

Can temporary auto insurance be renewed?

The 14-day temporary auto insurance policy cannot be renewed. Does the vehicle have a foreign license plate? If so, take out insurance in the country where the license plate was issued.

What should I do if I have a claim?

If you cause an accident with the vehicle while covered by temporary insurance, you must fill outan accident report formtogether with the other party. Normally, an accident report form consists of two copies. You give the so-called carbon copy to the other party.
