What exactly is Roy Data?

Roy Data is the central database of the EPS Foundation (Efficient Processes Claims Insurers). When you cancel a car insurance policy, the insurer registers your accumulated claim-free years. When you subsequently take out a new car insurance policy, the new insurer consults the Roy Data database to see how many claim-free years you have. As a result, when you take out a new car insurance policy, you no longer have to provide a termination statement. In this article at Alpina.nl , we go into more detail about what exactly Roy Data is and how you can access your data.

For whom is Roy Data intended?

Roy Data is intended for both insurer and policyholder. A car insurer is obliged, when canceling the car insurance, to report the number of claim-free years to Roy Data. This allows all car insurers to see this in the database. Since January 1, 2014, insurers are obliged to report the number of claim-free years at least once a year. Then when ending the insurance or switching, it is clear how many claim-free years someone has accumulated. This allows the new insurer to award the correct premium discount. In addition, you do not have to send a paper termination statement to a new insurer when switching insurers. This was the case until September 1, 2007. However, paper statements get lost more easily, so it could not always be determined how many claim-free years someone had accumulated.

Can I view Roy Data online?

For you, the insured, it is often not necessary to see Roy Data online . When you cancel a car insurance policy, you will receive a policy document that shows the number of claim-free years. Have you lost the policy document or do you want to check your claim-free years? Then you can use the inspection right form on the EPS website. Here you fill in your personal details. After sending the form, it may take a while before you receive your claim-free years. In most cases this takes a maximum of 28 days.

Note: claim-free years are not entered into Roy Data until your car insurance is terminated. Is your insurance still running, but would you like to know your claim-free years? Then you can contact the insurer. These claim-free years are not yet in Roy Data.

How long will my data remain in Roy Data?

Your accrued claim-free years are fixed in the car insurance policy. When the insurance is terminated, the accrued non-life years are released. The insurer then records them in Roy-data. However, damage-free years do not remain valid indefinitely. After canceling your insurance, your claim-free years are valid for 3 years with most insurers. With some insurers this is even only 2 years, but with others again 4 years. So always check when buying a car insurance how long claim-free years are valid with your insurer.

View Roy Data

Your claim-free years, after terminating insurance, are registered with Roy Data. This is the number of claim-free years you had built up until the moment you cancelled the insurance. Do you want to know how many claim-free years you have accumulated? Then you can view this data. This can be done via the EPS website. There you can fill in the right of inspection form. Send this form, together with a copy of your proof of identity, via the website.

Roy Data claim-free years

Claims-free years are recorded in the Roy Data database. Claim-free years are the years that you have not claimed any damage with the insurer. For each claim-free year you climb 1 bonus malus step. The higher you climb the bonus malus ladder, the more discount you will receive on the premium. Having or not having claim-free years makes a big difference for car insurance. By driving damage-free, you can build up a discount between 70 and 80% with most insurers.

Roy Data retrieval

Is your car insurance still running, but are you curious about the claim-free years? Then you can contact your insurer to request the number of claim-free years. These are not yet registered in Roy Data. Damage-free years are only registered in the Roy Data database when the car insurance is terminated or when you change insurers. You can request older claim-free years via the EPS website. This can be done very easily online. For this you can use the right of inspection form.

Roy Data is not correct

Is the number of claim-free years in Roy Data not correct? Then it is possible that the previous insurer registered an incorrect number of claim-free years in Roy Data. If you suspect this to be the case, you should contact the insurer that registered these claim-free years. This is because Foundation EPS cannot and may not adjust claim-free years. The insurer can then adjust the claim-free years. Remember that the data in Roy Data is not always up to date. This is because claim-free years are only registered when an insurance policy is terminated. If your car insurance is still running, these claim-free years have not yet been registered.

Roy Data System

Roy Data is the system in which insurers record claim-free years. It is an abbreviation for Roy Data. If you switch to a new car insurer, they can request your claim-free years. Claim-free years are important for your car insurance, because on this basis your no-claim discount is calculated. This determines your position on the bonus malus ladder and the premium you will eventually pay. Because Roy Data is a digital system, claim-free years are no longer lost, as was sometimes the case when paper cancellation certificates were still used.

Roy Data access

You can fill in the right of inspection form on the EPS website. Send it digitally, together with a copy of your proof of identity. This will allow you to inspect the data in Roy Data. It may take a while before your request is processed and you can actually view the data. You only get access to claim-free years after termination of the insurance. If the car insurance is still running, these claim-free years are not yet registered in the database. If you want to see them, you can contact your current insurer.

Roy Data register

The Roy Data register is also known as the Roy Data database. It is the online database where insurers register your accrued claim-free years after terminating an insurance policy. This register is accessible to every insurer. When you take out a new car insurance policy, the insurer can see in the Roy Data register how many claim-free years you have.
