Scooter insurance remains in effect when your son or daughter rides it. If your child is not listed on the policy as the driver in the event of a claim, an additional deductible does apply which varies by company but can be as high as €500.00. If you list your child as the driver of the scooter, this additional deductible does not apply.

Furthermore, the company may still adjust the premium if it turns out that your son or daughter is the regular driver of the scooter. In that case, they should be declared as the regular driver.

It is even better to put the insurance in your child's name, so that he/she builds up claim-free years. This can be attractive when switching to a car or motorbike insurance later on.
