Do your children also ride your scooter with insurance?
Scooter insurance remains in effect when your son or daughter rides it. If, in case of damage, your child is not listed on the policy as the driver, the insurer may charge an increased deductible in case of damage. Depending on the insurer, the excess in the event of damage may then be up to an additional €1000 on top of the existing excess. If you list your child as the driver of the scooter, you do not risk this additional deductible.
Scooter insurance? Calculate your premium!
Furthermore, the company may still adjust the premium if it turns out that your son or daughter is the regular driver of the scooter. In that case, they should be declared as the regular driver.
It is even better to put the insurance in your child's name, so that he/she builds up claim-free years. This can be attractive when switching to a car or motorbike insurance later on.
