You can purchase trip cancellation insurance either separately or as part of your travel insurance policy. With trip cancellation insurance, you’ll be reimbursed for costs if you have to unexpectedly cancel a trip or are forced to cut it short. Keep in mind that insurers set a maximum amount that you can be reimbursed for in the event of cancellation. You can choose this amount yourself when you purchase the insurance. It’s also important to note that you must have a valid reason for cancellation to be reimbursed. You can find the valid reasons for canceling your trip in the policy terms and conditions of your trip cancellation insurance.

Valid reasons for cancellation include, for example:

• Death of a close family member
• Divorce
• Involuntary unemployment following permanent employment
• Significant damage to your vacation home
• A medically necessary procedure
• Your travel companion cancels, and you would otherwise have to go on vacation alone

Purchase Cancellation Insurance

On our website, you can easily compare and purchase ongoing trip cancellation insurance policies. Please note, however, that trip cancellation insurance must be purchased no later than 7 days after booking your trip. If you purchase it more than 7 days after booking your trip, the trip will no longer be covered by the insurance. You can, however, still purchase travel insurance right up until just before your trip.
