Get your Green Card insurance quickly and easily

Green Card insurance is a 15-dayliability insurance policy that you can apply for using your license plate number. After these 15 days, the coverage automatically expires. Please note: Under this liability coverage, damage to third parties is insured, but damage to your own vehicle is not.

You can apply for this insurance quickly and easily online through our website, and you can pay the premium via iDEAL | Wero, so you’ll receive your international insurance certificate (the Green Card) quickly. If you’d like to receive an email with payment instructions, that’s certainly possible, but please keep in mind that it will take longer for the Green Card to be mailed to you.

Alpina issues the Green Card as soon as the premium is received. The Green Card is then sent immediately by email and mailed the next business day. Once the Green Card insurance has taken effect (the effective date is listed on the Green Card), it can no longer be canceled; however, prior to that—that is, before the effective date—it can still be canceled if necessary.

Unfortunately, we cannot apply for an export license plate on your behalf.

We will send you the Green Card via email and by mail. We recommend that you do not drive the vehicle until you have received the Green Card by mail. If this is not possible, you can print the Green Card that we sent you by email. We do, however, recommend that you print it on “Green Card paper” (available at bookstores) or other green paper.

If your insurance certificate is printed on white paper, foreign customs officials may sometimes refuse to recognize it as valid, since such certificates are traditionally green. If this happens, you can explain that it is indeed an internationally recognized insurance certificate and, if necessary, ask to speak with another official who may be familiar with current laws and regulations. Be sure to note the name(s) of the official(s) so that, once you return home, you or your legal expenses insurer can initiate a claim against the foreign authorities should they have required you to incur additional costs related to insuring your vehicle.

Temporary insurance is available not only for passenger cars but also for vans, trucks, and RVs.

The insurance policy may be canceled up until the effective date of coverage, provided that the cancellation is submitted on a business day and before 5:00 p.m. Once the policyholder has coverage or has received coverage, this green card can no longer be canceled under the right of rescission.
