Does the CC affect the cost of my quad insurance?

Are you looking for suitable insurance for your (future) quad bike? Often that search begins with comparing premiums. After all, monthly costs are an important part of choosing an insurance policy. Insurers routinely look at a number of factors when calculating the premium. These include your age and place of residence, as well as the value of the vehicle you want to insure. But do they also look at the number of CC of the quad? We are happy to explain it to you!

What does CC mean exactly?

CC stands for cubic centimetre. It is therefore a measure of volume. CC refers to the cylinder capacity of a quad's internal combustion engine. Cylinders are the spaces in the engine block where the pistons move up and down. This causes the engine to move. In principle, the larger the cylinders, the more power the engine can have. Although the power of the engine depends on several factors, it is a good guideline.

Quad insurance

When determining the cost of quad insurance, insurers look at a number of factors:

  • The weight of the quad
  • The coverage you choose
  • The number of claim-free years
  • Your age
  • Your city

Difference in terms of conditions according to the number of CC

Thus, when it comes to the quad, an insurer looks only at the weight of the quad when determining the cost, and not directly at the number of CC. This is because a heavier quad can do more damage than a light quad. When shopping for quad insurance, you can enter as these details in our online comparison tool. You will then get an overview of all providers, with corresponding premiums. When comparing premiums, you do enter the quad's displacement, but this usually does not change the amount of the premium.

700 CC

Quads can be divided into different categories. There are quads that are approved for agriculture, as mopeds, as passenger cars or as commercial vehicles. Quads with a lot of CC are most likely approved as passenger or commercial vehicles and are therefore allowed to drive on public roads. A quad with 700 CC, such as the Yamaha Raptor, has a lot of power and is often expensive. That is why it is important to take out a good quad insurance for such a vehicle.

400 CC

You can also easily insure a quad with 400 CC with us. You can choose from three different types of coverage: TPL, TPL + Theft and Fire or TPL + Theft, Fire and Collision. The latter coverage is similar to an all-risk or full collision insurance, as known from car insurance. This also covers damage to your own quad due to your own fault. Of course, the most comprehensive coverage is also the most expensive insurance. In addition, you can expand the insurance with passenger accident insurance, passenger damage insurance, and legal assistance insurance.

350 CC

There are also quads that are specially used for agriculture. A quad is fast, agile, can handle any terrain and is often compact and light. A quad approved for agriculture often has 350 or 250 CC. An agricultural quad that does not drive on public roads does not need a registration number. Always check this in advance with the RDW selection tool.

250 CC

Do you want to insure a quad bike with 250 CC? The insurance is based on the new value of the quad bike. If accessories are added at a later stage, they are not automatically included in the insurance. You must insure these accessories separately.
