There are two ways to request a driving record: in writing or online. If you decide to submit the request in writing, keep in mind that the RDW has a processing time of 9 business days. If you request the driving record online, you can view the information immediately and won’t have to wait. The cost is the same in both cases: you pay €4.50 for an extract.

What is required to request a new certificate of indemnification?

If you apply for a new certificate of indemnification online, you’ll need your DigiD login credentials. Once you’re logged in, you’ll have easy access to the information. If you apply for the new certificate of indemnification in writing, you’ll need to include some personal information, such as your name, address, city of residence, date of birth, the payment date, and the account number you’re using to make the payment. You do not need any other documents.

You can also authorize someone else to submit the request to the RDW on your behalf. In that case, the authorized representative can go to an RDW service counter and must bring the following documents:

• A written authorization signed by you
• A copy of your ID
• Original identification document issued to the authorized representative

The authorized representative will not receive a copy of the data summary. The RDW will send it to the address and place of residence listed for you in the vehicle registration database.
