Have you applied for car insurance? We send the application directly to the insurer. You will receive an email stating whether or not you have provisional coverage. Then you know whether your car is immediately insured or not.
With provisional coverage, you are insured immediately and may hit the road. The car insurance has already taken effect, but the final acceptance and policy still follow. You are fully insured. Do you sustain damage during this period with provisional coverage? Then your car is insured as usual.
No provisional coverage is not directly insured
Don't get provisional coverage? Then you are not immediately insured and may not use the car yet. In that case, the insurer must first manually review and approve the application.
This does not have to take a long time. On average, it takes 1 hour and in some cases it is settled in as little as 10 minutes. In the longest case, it takes up to 48 hours.

All-risk insurance is the most comprehensive coverage and also compensates for car damage to your own car, even if you cause it yourself. This is especially interesting for younger cars, while lower coverage is often chosen for cars older than 12 years.
Additional policies and supplemental coverages, such as occupant insurance or roadside assistance, provide additional protection and extra security on top of the basic coverage. Keep in mind that if you claim damage, it may affect your no claim and no claim discount. No claim means that you have not claimed any damage for a certain period of time, which allows you to build up a discount on your premium; this discount is called the no claim discount.
What happens if I drive damage before my application is approved?
In principle, if you drive damage while you have provisional coverage, it will be reimbursed according to your chosen coverage. Keep in mind that damage during provisional coverage can affect your claim-free years, which will affect your future premium.
However, if your application is later rejected (for example, due to a negative claims history or fraud), the insurer can still recover the loss from you. Therefore, always check that your application is complete and correct and do not go on the road without insurance.
