Can you view roy-data claim-free years?

Your claim-free years are recorded in Roy Data. Roy Data is the central database of Stichting EPS (Efficient Processes Schadeverzekeraars). In the past, you had to demonstrate your claim-free years with an expulsion statement. However, since 1 September 2007, insurers have been working with a digital system: Roy Data. When you terminate your car insurance, the insurer will put your accumulated claim-free years in Roy Data. When you take out a new car insurance, the new insurer will consult Roy Data. They will then claim the claim-free years and add them to your new policy. Active claim-free years that are attached to a current car insurance cannot be used and are therefore not yet in Roy-data. All insurers have access to Roy-data. You can also see your claim-free years in Roy-data.

How does the online viewing of claim-free years work?

To view your claim-free years online, you must submit a request via the website of Stichting EPS. You can do this by completing the right of inspection form. You can submit the completed form digitally together with a copy of your proof of identity. Keep in mind that it can take a while before you receive your claim-free years. In most cases this takes up to 28 days. In addition, your insurer must let you know annually how many claim-free years you have. Your claim-free years are therefore stated every year on your policy schedule.

How long can I view my claim-free years online?

Claim-free years are not valid indefinitely. After termination of your car insurance, claim-free years are valid for 3 years with most insurers. This differs per insurer. With some insurers claim-free years are only valid for 2 years, with some 4 or even 5 years. Therefore you should always check how many claim-free years are valid with your insurer when you take out your car insurance. Then you will know how long you can view your claim-free years in the Roy data register.

Claim-free years transferable since 1-1-2022

Since 1 January 2022, claim-free years are transferable in certain situations. In case of death for example, they can be transferred to the surviving partner. Also for lease drivers and drivers who have lived abroad for years, it is now possible to transfer the claim-free years. This way, they do not lose their accumulated claim-free years.
