Roy Data is incorrect: what can I do?

Damage-free years make a big difference to your car insurance policy. In fact, claim-free years are one of the factors affecting the amount of the premium. The more claim-free years you have accumulated, the more premium discount you will receive. It is therefore important that the correct number of claim-free years is registered in Roy Data. When taking out a car insurance policy, you report your claim-free years to the insurer. If that number differs from the officially registered number in Roy Data, it has consequences for the premium. Is the number of claim-free years in Roy Data not correct? Then it is possible that your previous insurer registered an incorrect number of claim-free years. In this article on Alpina.nl we tell you what you can do if your registration in Roy Data is not correct.

What data is in Roy Data?

Your claim-free years are recorded in the Roy Data database. Claim-free years are the years that you have not claimed any damage with the insurer. For each claim-free year you climb 1 bonus malus step. The higher you climb the bonus malus ladder, the more discount you will receive on your premium. Having or not having claim-free years makes a big difference for car insurance. By driving damage-free, you can build up a discount between 70 and 80% with most insurers.

Is the data not always current?

The data in Roy Data is not always current. This is because claim-free years are only registered when an insurance policy is terminated. The data is only updated as soon as the insurance is stopped. If your car insurance is still running, these claim-free years have not yet been registered. In the meantime, you may have accumulated more claim-free years. Have you already claimed damage with the new car insurance? Then you have probably caused a decline in your claim-free years. Keep this in mind when you request your Roy Data data.

How do I request the details of Roy data?

If you have a car insurance policy and are curious how many claim-free years you have accumulated, you can request this from your insurer. These data are not yet registered in Roy Data. You can also see the number of claim-free years on your policy schedule or annual statement. If you want to see previous claim-free years, you can request them from the EPS website. To do so, use the right of inspection form. After sending the form, it may take a while before you receive your claim-free years. In most cases this takes a maximum of 28 days.

Adjustments if Roy Data is not correct where should I report it?

Do you suspect that your data in Roy Data is not correct? Then you should contact the insurer who registered these claim-free years in Roy Data. This is the insurer of the car insurance you last terminated. The insurer can then adjust the claim-free years. There is no point in contacting Stichting EPS about this. EPS cannot and may not adjust the claim-free years. You should therefore always report incorrect data to the insurer in question.
