Is it compulsory to insure a horse trailer?
To transport your horse as safely as possible over a longer distance, a horse trailer is a godsend. In principle, it is not compulsory in the Netherlands to insure a horse trailer separately. If the horse trailer is connected to the car, the trailer falls under the WA car insurance. With a WA-insurance, damage that you cause with the horse trailer to others will be compensated. Damage to your own horse trailer is not covered by the car insurance and will therefore not be compensated. In this case it does not matter whether you have a WA-, limited-casco- or all-risk insurance. Only damage to (vehicles of) others is compensated.
