Can you have a CIS registration removed?
Do you have a CIS registration that you would like to delete? If you want to have your CIS registration deleted before the deadline has expired, this can only be done by the person who registered you. It is not possible to remove your CIS registration from the database yourself. What you can do is challenge the registration if you believe it to be unjustified. If you want to have your registration removed from the CIS database, we will explain to you how to proceed.
How can you challenge an unjustified CIS registration?
Are you of the opinion that your registration in the database of Stichting CIS is incorrect or has been wrongly registered and would you like to have it removed? In that case you can always lodge an objection. To do so, you must submit a request for correction to your insurance company.
You can download a form from the website of Stichting CIS on which you can indicate why you think the registration should be corrected. Stichting CIS will then pass on your request to your insurance company. It is then up to the insurance company to decide whether or not they will comply with this request.
If your insurance company refuses your request, the CIS registration will continue to exist. You can always file a complaint with the complaints commission of the insurance company if you do not agree with the decision. If this does not change anything, you can also submit your complaint to the Financial Services Complaints Institute. If this does not help, you can also submit the complaint to the court, although this will often involve high legal costs.
When will your CIS registration be automatically deleted?
It depends on the type of registration when your registration in the Foundation CIS will be deleted:

Has your insurance company decided not to remove the registration in the CIS database? Then you will only be able to get insurance from the insurer De Vereende. De Vereende is an insurance company that was specially created to insure special risks. De Vereende applies a broader acceptance policy. In principle they accept anyone who wishes to take out insurance with them. However, this is subject to a number of conditions. You will have to pay three months in advance and the insurance premium will also be a lot higher than with other insurers. In most cases, you will also be asked to pay a deposit.
At De Vereende you can calculate online how much your insurance will amount to. We are the only one in the Netherlands in this respect. That way you know in advance what you can expect. You do have to take into account that only when you have paid the first premium the coverage of your insurance policy will start. Also, you will first need to have completed and signed the application form and returned it to us. For these reasons, it will take a few days before your insurance is covered.
