Costs of transferring a car
The cost of transferring a car is always the same. So it does not matter whether you transfer the car online or at a registration desk, RDW location or PostNL location. The only difference is that when you transfer a car online, you pay the costs via iDeal. The cost for transferring a car in 2021 is €10.75. Immediately after paying the costs you will receive the registration report with the first 4 digits of the registration code. You should keep this well. You will also receive the release certificate. You give this to the seller of the car. The release certificate shows that the person is no longer responsible for the car. If you lose the registration certificate with the registration code, you can request a new code. This costs €1.
What other costs should I take into account after transferring a car?
As soon as the license plate is transferred to the new owner's name, he or she must immediately fulfill all vehicle obligations. For example, the car must be insured, MOT-tested and motor vehicle taxes must be paid. If you do not meet these obligations on time, you risk hefty fines. The RDW checks in the insurance register whether the car is at least WA insured. In the inspection register, they can see if the car meets the MOT obligation. Motor vehicle tax checks are done by the Tax Office.
What does it cost to get car insurance?
