GIO Adviesgroep old-timer insurance survey results 2014

Below are the survey results for Gio Advisory Group's vintage car insurance.

Gio Adviesgroep has a so-called "Fixed rate" and a "Bonus-malus rate. We discuss both below.

Flat rate

The flat rate is for vintage cars used exclusively as a hobby and second car.

Advantages:

• Already accepting vehicles as young as 15 years old
• No appraisal report required with (limited) hull coverage

Disadvantages:

• High standard deductible
• Minimum age of driver is 24 years old
• Increased deductible if driver is found to be under 24 years of age
• No retention of 'wreck' in case of total loss

Bonus-malus rate

For daily use and up to 20,000 kilometers per year of use.

Advantages:

• Already accepting vehicles as young as 15 years old
• No appraisal report required with (limited) hull coverage
• Use up to 20,000 kilometers possible
• No first car required

Disadvantages:

• Valuation report valid for 2 years instead of 3 years
• Minimum age of driver is 24 years old
• Increased deductible if driver is found to be under 24 years of age
• No retention of 'wreck' in case of total loss
