Carnival is almost here again! Be sure to make arrangements for more than just celebrating. Check out our checklist.

The real carnivores have been looking forward to the carnival weekend for a year. Have you also been preparing for months, such as picking out a carnival outfit?
Especially for the carnival revellers who put all their free hours into building a float, we have put together the carnival check. Some insurances are not so crazy with carnival.

Carnival Check

Check the towing vehicle for technical defects
Before you hit the road, it is important to check that the vehicle you are pulling the float with is technically sound.

It is also important to check if the car insurance of the towing vehicle also covers participation in the parade. This can be found in the policy conditions.

Remember the traffic rules
During Carnival, normal traffic rules apply. Whether you participate in the parade or are a spectator. As the driver of a traction vehicle, keep sufficient distance from your predecessor in the parade. Pay close attention to enthusiastic spectators, such as children, who may suddenly cross the street.

As a spectator, it is wise to keep some distance from the floats. The floats are often large and, as a result, the driver may suffer from several blind spots. Also, do not simply cross the street. Be mindful of your safety and the safety of your children.

Leave your smartphone and valuables at home
During carnival, you would love to capture all the special carnival outfits. Still, it is not wise to bring your smartphone with you. The chances of your getting damaged or lost in the festivities are quite high. In addition, there are always people who do not come to party, but are out for your phone, for example. Pickpockets are also active during Carnival. Prevent theft or damage to your smartphone and your valuables by leaving them at home as much as possible.

Do not post on social media that you are carnivaling

While you are watching the parade, thieves are striking in your home. It is therefore very important that you do not clearly show that you are watching the carnival. Post any photos on social media afterwards and not on the day(s) themselves.
In Brabant and Limburg, the risk of burglaries during carnival is twice as high as normal. Read our anti-burglary tips here.

It is also possible to purchase additional burglary insurance. This insurance falls under the building insurance. With burglary insurance, not only will your belongings be reimbursed, but also the damage to your home caused by the burglary.
