Kifid

The Financial Services Complaints Institute (Kifid) is intended to provide you, the consumer, with a single point of contact for the resolution of (impending) conflicts with financial service providers and for information on financial matters. These include the product groups investments, insurance, mortgages, loans, other banking products and mixed products.

You can always go to court in case of a conflict, but the Ombudsman and Disputes Committee working within Kifid can offer you an alternative: in a relatively short period of time (litigation often takes years), in consultation with the financial service provider concerned, an attempt is made to find a solution or a judgement is passed on the matter.

Kifid is financed by a foundation with the same name that was set up by the sector organisations mentioned above (see initiators). These, incidentally, have no influence or authority whatsoever on the way in which a case is handled. Moreover, the independence of the Ombudsman and the Disputes Committee is guaranteed by their regulations and the manner of their appointment.
