Moped sales skyrocket

Alpina research shows that moped sales in the first 7 months of 2020 increased dramatically compared to the same months last year.

Last year, 39,030 mopeds were permitted on Dutch roads for the first time. This year, there are over 10,000 more, namely 49,979. An increase of some 30%.

Consequence of the corona crisis

The moped is one of the few vehicles where an increase can be seen compared to last year. On the other hand, there is a large decrease in passenger cars.

The increase in sales of mopeds is probably aand result of the coronacrisis. Because of the corona crisis travel by public transportation is no longer an option for some people. As a result, many people are going to search for their own replacement transportation. A moped seems to be a frequently chosen option in this regard. A big advantage of the moped is that, compared to a car, the purchase, the use and insurance is relatively cheaper.
